Non-Lethal Hungarian Dragon, Zita Görög, Return to Screen

dont-worry-kids.jpgWell, it's certainly been a good couple of week for Hungarian dragons. First we discover that the fearsome Hungarian Horntail has a show-stealing role in the new "Harry Potter" pic. Now we hear via origo.hu that Süsü (left) the dragon star of a super-successful TV show back in the late 1970s and 1980s, is about to return to the air, with thirteen new episodes of the eponymous show to be aired on M1 (public TV). Not only that, according to velvet.hu, the old Süsü was a favorite of Zita Görög, who by coincidence, has also just gotten her main TV gig back.

While Süsü's voice will be spoken by actor Gyula Bodrogi, just like in the original series, the star of the new episodes will actually be Süsüke, Süsü's son, who will be accompanied on his adventures by Mindenes, the family's old servant. The new series will also feature up-to-date music, even (grr) some techno. "Süsü" show owes its success partly to director Attila Szabó, who also worked on other popular children's shows like "Mazsola," ("Raisin") "Csupafül," ("All Ears") and "Mi újság a Futrinka utcában" ("What's New on Futrinka Street").

And in related news, Zita Görög is once again the host of TV2's popular talent show "Megasztár," after getting the big brush-off from the network for a few long months. While the original "Süsü" was seen in 22 countries, there is no word yet on any purchases by foreign broadcasters, or any tie-ins with Süsü's more famous fire-breathing colleague, or Zita.
