A 59-year-old man in Tata is accused of pocketing his dead mother’s pension for 17 years. The mother died in early 1994, but her unemployed son, hard up for cash, decided he would continue taking his mother’s pension packet from the mailman until he got back on his feet. Apparently he either never did get around to finding a job or just found it too hard to say no to the windfall. He is now facing fraud charges and has to pay back the nearly HUF 8 million he filched over the years. One can only hope his mom wasn’t wearing any jewelry when she was buried, though our guess is that he’s probably too lazy to go through the trouble of digging her up. [index.hu]
