While it is not the first time we have been heartened by the sight of a rich bastard being subject to local parking rules, the above shot is especially stirring, since it involves not just a normal rich bastard but a veritable beast – and one who got his riches putting the clamp on others.
The black Rolls Royce Phantom with the license plate BEAST-1 that recently got booted for illegally parking in a downtown Budapest park apparently belongs to György Fürst. A former Socialist deputy mayor who now holds a comfy job at mobile parking company EME Zrt, Fürst became notorious as head of Centrum Parkolási Kft, the dominant Budapest parking company known for having connections with parties both left and right and fining the living hell out of Budapest motorists. He also used to be in the habit of sticking diplomatic flags on his car after he received a “roving diplomat” passport from a politician from somewhere in Central Africa. This type of offense generally costs HUF 64,000, but in Fürst’s case we’re inclined to say the result is priceless. [index.hu/pic via dan300]

lovely sight, indeed. now let’s get back to the roving diplomat possibility. anybody with the right african connections? bring the contact info and i’ll buy the beer.
