Five policemen accused of raping a young woman known as Zsanett E. in 2007 were acquitted in a binding court decision last Tuesday. The now 26-year-old woman accused the five of sexually assaulting her in a side street off Múzeum körút in Budapest on May 4, 2007. The incident culminated in a high-profile court trial after the national and Budapest police chiefs were fired and the justice minister resigned over the case involving allegations of theft, bribes and rape by police officers. The court said there was no evidence to prove the woman’s charges or the counter-claims of the police officers she accused. [origo.hu]
