A team of six detectives will look into two deaths and disappearances on Hajógyári Island and its vicinity in recent years, National Police spokesman László Garamvölgyi said yesterday.
The investigation is related to the recent arrest of László Vizoviczki, owner of the island’s thriving nightclub scene, on suspicion of bribing police to ignore drug-peddling and other illegal activities in his empire.
A man disappeared without trace from the area in February 2006. A 21-year-old man whose body was found in the Danube disappeared on the island last December 3.
The illegal police protection of Vizoviczki’s nightclubs has not ended, despite the closure of some clubs on the weekend, Magyar Hírlap writes.
Regarding indications that club owners knew of last weekend’s raids in advance, a top police leader told Magyar Nemzet that the person – who informed those affected two hours before the raids – works for one of the other organisations that took part in the operations. [HATC]

‘works for’…as in, still employed by law enforcement? what kind of sick joke is that?
