Hungarians Last in Survey of Life Satisfaction as Currency Crosses Key Pain Threshold

Feeling a bit glum? No problem – you’re not alone!

According to the just-released (and much-publicized) 2012 “better life” index of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development – the club of better-off industrial nations – Hungary is the country with the lowest level of life satisfaction among the 36 nations surveyed. Not much more to say except cheer up everyone! Well, and that the forint just slid past the crucial HUF 300/EUR threshold. And that the weather forecasts are now calling for on-and-off rain until at least Sunday. [Image via demotivalo.net]

And here is what people were saying back before we forced readers to use Facebook to comment. Weren't those the days?
  1. Magicman says:

Saad You have the best food drink climate i the world and it is still affordable.

  2. Portuguese says:

Actually Portugal has the best food, drink, climate in the world and we are next on the list.

  3. Irish says:

And yet Ireland is half way up the list despite having the worst food and climate in the world, and being completely overpriced. Cheer up Hungary…

  4. texan says:

Yes, I tried to open a business (Restaurant & Night Club)& got eaten up by permits, fees, taxes, more local costs, extorsion fees & lets not forget the local organized crime that works with police to control any business that will actually make money…..NO THANKS!! Now I am out $350,000 & back where I was 5 years ago in Texas (but without the $$)…..I am hungarian by blood but I hope Europe eats this unbearable POS country….
