After hearing about the death penalty for burglary in Kisvác and then the death penalty for potato stealing in Szentes and finally the death penalty for vandalism in Debrecen we got used to the idea that even seemingly minor crimes can be fatal in Hungary. But now things seem to be getting carried away, with news that a man who was caught by ticket inspectors checking a bus for fare-dodgers in District XIV this week was killed by a van that hit him as he was trying to escape.
