The national economy ministry yesterday announced it was drawing up a plan to get rid of the “obstacles” which prevent more women from joining the official workforce. And playing a key role will be a woman: newly-appointed commissioner Piroska Szalai (left). In announcing her appointment, the state secretary for employment (who, naturally, is a guy) said Szalai’s new position had been established to make up for decades of neglect in addressing the issue of “women’s place in the labor market.” Her appointment will last for a full six months, after which we suppose she’ll run off like a good girl.
