Hungarian mushroom production has plummeted from an estimated 35,000 tons a year to just 25,000 tons, leaving the country holding barely a 2% hold on the European mushroom market, Árpád Mutsy, managing director of leading domestic mushroom producer Bio-Fungi, told Parliament this week. The country could double its mushroom production if its fungus-growing techniques were modernized, Mutsy added. [bbj.hu]
