With Hungary gripped by a punishing kánikula (heat wave), leading tabloid Blikk on Wednesday sought out both experts and everyday people to answer one of the most pressing questions about how to deal with the heat: whether or not women should wear a bra. Stylist Nóra Szemes was apparently open to the idea of smaller-bosomed women leaving the house melltartó nélkül in certain circumstances, but maintained that women who are larger than a B or C cup should always wear bras. She went on to say that for tube tops, strapless bras are vastly preferable to bras with transparent silicone straps. “Silicone straps were already ciki (tacky) when they became popular,” Szemes warned, adding that if one is to go out in a transparent top, a skin-colored bra was the only option that is not “vulgar.” As for the women-in-the-street, opinion was decidedly mixed. One Mercédesz Zaják (18) said she always wears a bra – even at home, right up until she takes her nightly shower. “I need it; I feel naked without one,” Zaják explained.
But 24-year-old Enikő Nagy (pictured above right) begged to differ. “Why would I hide my breasts in this heat?” she asked, adding that she frankly doesn’t feel the need to wear a bra regardless of the weather.
