Gene Simmons's Infamous Tongue Comes Up Short When Discussing Hungary
Unlike fellow American of Hungarian Jewish descent Tony Curtis, who has lent his name to advertise Hungary, Gene Simmons isn't exactly a fan of our little country, Blikk reports. The Kiss bassist and bandleader, whose parents left Hungary after World War II for Israel, said that although he speaks Hungarian with his Mom (and random American soldiers recuperating from war injuries), he's never felt particularly Hungarian, and when Kiss comes by this May to rock the Népstadion Puskás Stadion, it will be only the third time he visits the country. Simmons added he doesn't hold any resentment against Hungary or Hungarians, the subject just doesn't interest him, and he won't respond to "Jenő bácsi" if someone calls him that.
