Combinos Finding New Methods to Wreak Destruction Across Budapest

A reader to the BKV Figyelő blog wrote in about an incident he or she witnessed last Thursday morning, when an elderly man’s cane got stuck in a Combino tram’s doors at the Baross utca stop. The driver, unaware that the cane was sticking out horizontally from the doors, proceeded to take off, with the cane plowing into every car the tram passed on its way to the Rákoczi tér stop. Despite attempts by passengers to alert the driver, they couldn’t find an emergency button. Before the reader could alert the driver at the following stop (by which point the cane was dislodged), the driver left the stop, as usual completely unaware of anything that just happened.
