Rumors Continue About a Possible Matthäus Return to Magyarland

nice-teeth-lothar!.jpgReports are again swirling around legendary player and sucky coach Lothar Matthäus, who earlier this year was announced to be the new Székesfehérvár coach, before he quickly was not. According to Bors, Matthäus is rumored to take over Ferencváros from Craig Short, but sporthirado.hu said it was probably nothing more than speculation. Meanwhile, Blikk is reporting that current national coach Erwin Koeman is worried that next year’s likely return to power by Fidesz chairman Viktor Orbán will see him dismissed from his job. While Orbán did have some kind words for Matthäus in the same interview in which he criticized Koeman, he has nowhere expressed his desire to see Koeman given the boot. Still, considering Matthäus’s better relations with Orbán and inability to find a stable coaching job anywhere else, would this mean a return for Matthäus to Magyarland? We’ll keep you posted.
