These Days They Sell Drinks not Dentures at the Fogasház

It's not been the best of times for Budapest's bar and club scene this past summer with

The first time I dropped in to the Fogasház (Tooth or Denture House), purportedly named after a denture manufacturer who used to work there, it was admittedly dead, although this being a Sunday afternoon I wasn't exactly shocked to find it less than buzzing. Nonetheless, the friendly barstaff and good beer prices of Ft 430 for Soproni and Ft 490 for Zlatý (€1.60 and €1.80 respectively) meant the place warranted a second visit, and even a third.

On a Friday night the place was busy primarily with young college kids, and on a weekday night it was mostly the young professional types. So, depending on which demographic you fit into (or which one you're trying to shack up with), choose your night accordingly.

In addition to the courtyard seating area are rooms with foosball tables, an art exhibition and other rooms that have yet to be furnished, suggesting the place plans on expanding further into the otherwise empty building. As that makes clear, the Fogasház is still a work in progress, but it certainly has potential, and is worth your time to drop in for a korsó or two, especially while summer still refuses to give way to autumn.
