Loathsome “Moron” Matthäus Returns to Hungary

lothar_matthaus.jpgHungary thought it had seen the last of Lothar Matthäus, described on these pages as a “loathsome megalomaniac” and by the national football federation simply as a “moron“, when he was sacked as national team coach in January 2006. But alas, he’s back – and fresh from a litany of failures in high-profile leagues such as Austria, Serbia and Israel! According to Nemzeti Sport, he has a signed a 2+1-year contract with Székesfehérvár, who finished in sixth place in the Hungarian first division this season. We’re watching you, LM.
