Urban Renewal (II): State Finally Funds Street-Sweepers for Key Downtown Square

Around a year ago we published an impassioned denunciation of the authorities' failure to keep the then-recently spiffed-up Erzsébet tér clean. The good news is that I went last Sunday and can confirm via the above pic that some new public funds have finally been used to send people with brooms to the square. The bad news is that our wise leaders spent the money on an experimental dance troupe that minced around the place, pretending to clean up. Just in case you needed another reason to only pretend to pay your taxes…
I also saw this. The thing I couldn't get was that if some Culture Ministry bod pays money for this wantonly wasteful employment of work-shy fop contempory dance students, why couldn't they have asked them to include a little bit of sweeping-up into their routine? Then they could've killed two birds with one stone. Or two flies with one blow. Or two small palinka bottles with one sweep.
