Zombies Lose Out as Majority of Brain Collection to be Destroyed

Brains.jpgA valuable collection of 1,000 human brains and brain sections stored at the Lipótmező National Psychiatric and Neurology Institute (OPNI), which was closed last year because the government wants to release the nuts back into society, is currently being packed up, reports Index.hu. One-fourth of the collection will be transferred to Semmelweis University, and the rest cremated, leading to shock and outrage in the zombie community. The three rooms of brains are especially useful for study purposes, as they are complete with documentation on the patients who died at the institution. There are also another seven cupboards full of brain sections and pieces of tissue without detailed information sheets, meaning that those are just fun to toss around the room in a game of impromptu catch.

Despite modern devices assisting the work of neuropathologists today, documented samples like those stored at the Institute are still necessary for learning more about illnesses and helping patients. The institute used the samples to study illnesses such as the Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, and in recent years, brain damage caused by illegal drugs. The collection was also used in doctor training, with generations of doctors “growing up with this collection,” said Professor Zoltán Nagy, adding that it was visited by Dutch, British and Swiss doctors as well.

Nagy, the last director of the institute, said it was unfortunate that most of the collection will be destroyed, adding that he thinks it should be photographed and stored digitally. Index’s reporters were not allowed to photograph the samples on grounds of respect for the deceased, in an obvious attempt to prevent zombie porn.

  1. I’d put them on EBay (brain + patient notes).

    There’s a market for anything.

Shame Vatera and TeszVesz are so poorly developed.

Would be nice to have a spare brain. Just think of all the useless information I could store then!

Are there any former-mathematician brains? The brain I have is useless at maths.
