Last week while walking on Váci utca, I came across this family of tourists enjoying some beers on one of the benches. Now, it would be one thing if they grabbed a few cold ones from a store and plopped down for a rest, but they were drinking from Dreher glasses, meaning those beers were not bought in a store (or at least not the first ones). The question is: are Budapest Benches now a necessary part of the tourist experience, or is this just some cheap restaurant’s idea of outdoor seating?
