Lothar Matthäus Uncharacteristically Humble. Oh, Who are We Kidding?
Ever the modest person, footballing legend but rather unremarkable coach Lothar Matthäus says we should thank him for the Hungarian National Football Team's recent improvements, writes Index.hu. Commenting on Hungary's disastrous Euro 2008 qualifying campaign that spurred one of us to write this piece, Matthäus the Megalomaniac called for the resignation of everyone within the Hungarian Football Association (MLSZ), adding that association president István Kisteleki is only interested in helping himself out, not the national football team. Fair enough, but then Matthäus took credit for discovering all of the Hungarian players who have returned some degree of hope to the nation's footballing future, thus asserting that we should all be thankful to him, and not coach Péter Várhidi, who despite last week's losses, was the man who had the kindness to turn the light back on at the end of the tunnel, even though there's still a long way to the end of it.
