Pokorni Distances Party From Riots, Politics, Sanity
What was that about conspiracy theories…? Well, brace yourselves for one straight from the very top. Opposition party Fidesz, and their deputy leader Zoltán Pokorni (right, thinking of new ways to outwit the government), have demonstrated their ability to mix it with the best minds in conspiracy theory by accusing the government of orchestrating the ransacking of the Hungarian State Television building way back on September 18. The eye-popping middle section of the MTI report of the claims is reproduced for you below courtesy of helpful subscription holder J.:
The violent storming of the headquarters of Hungarian Television was a premeditated government provocation, Zoltan Pokorni, deputy leader of the opposition Fidesz party, told public television on Tuesday. Pokorni claimed the rioters had been led by eight or ten paid provocateurs, who conducted a group of skinheads while several tens of thousands of appalled people were standing by. "I think there was a pre-written scenario of Russian roulette; a game which Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany was playing," Pokorni said. He added, however, that he did not believe that Gyurcsány personally had come up with the idea.
Of course, Fidesz supporters and other conspiracy specialists will swear blind that the article is all just lefty media spin hatched to make them look bad, and that Ferenc Gyurcsány invented AIDS, that Viktor Orbán discovered the Internet, and that civil war is just around the corner.
