Hungary Beats Austrian Captivity Record by Five Years

It's sad to say, but anything bad they can do in Austria, we can do worse here in Hungary. After the Wieners hogged the headlines with the gruesome Natascha Kampus (that's her) case a few weeks back, Hungary's leading disturbing news provider Blikk, has come up with a copycat case, except that this one goes back even further. The victim is a 27-year-old woman whose identity is currently being kept secret) and her mother, both of whom where imprisoned and allegedly beaten and sexually abused for 13 years (as opposed to Kampusch's eight) in a District IX apartment, not by a stranger, but by their own father/husband.
An employee of the Ferencvárosi Családsegítő Szolgálat, the local department of social services, disclosed in an interview on the "Friderikusz Most" show on the ATV channel that social workers found the girl while visiting her terminally ill mother after the recent death of her father. They noticed that the girl was very pale, unable to take care of herself, scared of everyone and spoke in fragmented sentences. Reportedly the last time the girl had any contact with the outside world was when she finished secondary school, around the age of 14. It remains a mystery how none of the neighbors noticed anything unusual, especially as most Budapest apartment blocks are marshaled by nosey nénis who normally send the fuzz round if more then three people share a bottle of wine together.
