Why Can't You Be Nice Like that Handsome Adam LeBor?

Over in the Pestiside reader forum on Caboodle.hu someone has taken issue with yesterday's item about Imre Keresz's boorish behavior during Jewish Book Week in London. While we're not going to apologize for our slap at the Nobel Prize winner, we do have something to apologize for: Not mentioning that one of Budapest's other favorite literary sons was also feted during JBW, and didn't act like an ass! In fact, despite receiving glowing reviews in all the right places for his new book City of Oranges, Adam LeBor is more of a mensch than ever. Really! So instead of just being our normal plotka-macher selves and kvetching about who was naughty, we though an excellent form of auxiliary revenge would be to steer your monthly budget for Jewish-related books to a local author who's not a momzer. (The book, and other LeBor selections, are also available in Budapest at Bestsellers.) And as for you Imre, maybe it would help if you called, but you never call, you ungrateful putz.
