Serious News Update: EU Now Really Pissed Off, Officially

After several weeks of relative silence, our beloved benefactors in Brussels gave Hungary another whack today for our wastrel ways, this time complaining that Hungary's public spending spree was screwing things up for the whole neighborhood.
"They are having not only negative consequences in their own economy. In the last period, there have also been some negative spillover effects on the other countries in the area that are of serious concern," EU economics czar Joaquin Almunia said earlier today, after a meeting with finance ministers from across euroland. Almunia also explicitly raised the possibility that Hungary might lose EU funding for infrastructure projects and other great free EU cash if it continues to misbehave. No official response yet from the Hungarian government, though we're sure they will soon offer an appropriately half-assed response.
