Orbán Serenades Gypsies with New Friendly Tune
Viktor Orbán's transformation from right-wing harrumpher to mop-topped liberal continued yesterday at a forum in Szécsény aimed at cementing his party's ties to Hungary's Roma (Gypsy) entrepreneurs. "We are in a situation from where we get out together or we don't," the former liberal scourge said, according to stop.hu. "I think a Hungary where Hungarians are successful and Gypsies are not, is unimaginable. Also the other way round."
Orbán pointed out that neither Hungarians nor politicians will be able to solve the problems of Roma entrepreneurs, but without allies, they won't be able to get out of their difficult situation. Sounds great, Viki, though the bit about a Hungary "where Hungarians are successful and Gypsies are not" being "unimaginable" could use a little work, unless you want your audience to think that you think Hungary's Gypsies aren't also Hungarians. But practice makes perfect!
