None Injured as City Bus Inferno Epidemic Continues
Two buses on Budapest's 128 line caught fire last week. The first incident happened in district XII on Wednesday, on the corner of Hadik András utca and Fészek utca. The engine of the Ikarus 415 suddenly burst into flames, but fortunately, the fire didn't reach the passenger area, so nobody was injured, index.hu writes. According to tv2.hu, the second bus caught fire on Friday, and not only was it the same type of bus running on the same line, but it was on the same street as well. While Budapest transport company BKV Rt said on Wednesday that "things like this happen," on Friday, they said somebody might have done it on purpose.
The engine of the bus that caught fire on Wednesday has been disassembled; the same will be done to the one that burned down on Friday. In the past four years, a total of fifteen BKV buses have caught fire in Budapest, but none were Ikarus 415s. In each case, the fire was caused by a technical problem.
