Budapest Puckers Up for Epic Kissing Contest

On Saturday, June 25th, thousands from both sides of the Danube are expected to gather on the Erzsébet híd (Elizabeth Bridge) in an attempt to break the world record for the largest "mass kiss." The Midsummer Night's Kissing Contest will attempt to put Hungary in the Guinness Book of World Records by pipping the existing best ever of 5,327 simultaneously smooching couples, set last February in the Philippine capital of Manila.

To help put the canoodlers in the mood, "light-painting" artists Dorkandkozma will dress up the bridge in colorful lights, an animated preview of which can be seen on this page. So if you're in town on the 25th, help make Hungary proud by dragging your spouse or lover over to the bridge and giving them a big wet one. Better still, bring both.
