Hungarian Scientists Brave Chernobyl Radiation

An expedition organized by the Hungarian Nuclear Society set off to Chernobyl last weekend, according to Világgazdaság online. The aim of the mission is to examine the condition of the infamous Ukrainian nuclear power plant, especially the cement "sarcophagus" entombing Block 4, which exploded 19 years ago, as well as the surrounding area. The 33-member group includes engineers, physicists, chemical engineers, biologists and radiation safety experts, and is being led by Attila Aszódi, the director of the Nuclear Technics Institution at the Budapest University of Technical and Economic Sciences. The brave scientists are expected to return to Hungary in the middle of June, barring any unforeseen events.
